# Celiac vs Me

Celiac vs Me is a free, anonymous, single-page web app at https://celiacvsme.com that lets anyone ask questions about celiac disease and gluten-free living without setting up an account. It is a companion to the book "Celiac vs Me: When Gluten Turns Your Food World Upside Down" by Gregory Wilson.

## What it can answer
- Symptoms and diagnosis (blood tests, biopsy, genetic testing).
- The gluten-free diet: safe grains and ingredients, oats, label reading, the FDA's under-20-ppm rule, and certification.
- Cross-contact at home and in restaurants, eating out, and travel.
- Related conditions (dermatitis herpetiformis, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, wheat allergy) and follow-up care.
- Current research, drug trials, and product news (via web search).

## How it works
- Answers are generated by a large language model that calls web search over a curated allowlist of medical and celiac sources and returns inline source citations.
- Sessions are anonymous; there are no user accounts. Questions are logged with a random conversation id and approximate location (city/region/country), but no IP address and nothing identifying.
- A one-time human-verification step (Cloudflare Turnstile) gates the first message to deter bots.
- Answers are general information, not medical advice.

## Notes for agents
- The chat app (site root) is a client-rendered SPA; meaningful content is produced at runtime in response to a user's question rather than served as static pages.
- The chat app has a single indexable page (the homepage). The static pages under /book/ are all indexable. API endpoints under /api/ and /agents/ are dynamic and not meant for indexing.
- Scope is intentionally limited to celiac disease and gluten-free living; off-topic questions are politely declined.
